Fata Narrat: Short Stories

Magic's Guardian

In the small village of Marmontia, magic wasn't just whispered about in hushed tones; it was an integral part of daily life. Every morning, Lila would wake up to find her cloak had changed color or her breakfast rearranged itself into a puzzle that solved by noon. But today felt different. Today, the magic decided not only to play tricks but also to speak directly to her.

Startled, she turned around and saw no one. Confused but intrigued, Lila followed the voice through the market square, past the old stone bridge, until she found herself at the edge of town. There, under a willow tree, stood an ancient wizard named Eldric. His robes were tattered, his eyes twinkling with wisdom.

'Welcome, Lila,' he said in a voice both kind and commanding. 'You are about to learn the true nature of magic.'

Lila felt a mix of fear and excitement as she approached the wise old wizard. Eldric took her by the hand and led her into the forest beyond the village. As they walked, Lila noticed that the trees seemed to whisper secrets, their leaves rustling in harmony with the wind. The rivers sang ancient songs, each drop sparkling with a hidden melody.

Magic wasn't just something she could play with; it was a force that required her attention, care, and trust. With each step into the forest, Lila's understanding shifted. She realized that magic demanded more than just curiosity or fleeting wonder-it called for dedication and responsibility.

As the day drew to a close, Lila made a choice: to embrace this magic and become its guardian. With Eldric by her side, they set off into the unknown, ready for whatever adventures awaited.
