Draft of Haunted Nights
As night fell over the sleepy town, Emily and her friends gathered around a flickering campfire. They had always been curious about the dilapidated mansion at the end of the street-a place whispered to be haunted by restless spirits. The legend said that years ago, it was the home of a wealthy family who vanished under mysterious circumstances. Tonight, they planned to explore the abandoned house and debunk its spooky reputation.
Emily's heart raced as she entered the mansion through a creaking door. Her flashlight beam danced across peeling wallpaper and cobwebs entangled in broken chandeliers. As they ventured deeper into the dark corridors, strange noises echoed around them-whispered voices, faint sobs, and the distinct sound of footsteps following from behind.
Suddenly, a cold wind swept through the mansion, extinguishing their flashlights one by one. Panic set in as darkness enveloped them. Emily felt a hand touch her shoulder; she spun around but saw no one. Terrified, they tried to flee, only to find themselves trapped within the maze-like halls.
That night, Emily woke up in a cold sweat, the image of a spectral figure standing at the end of her bed hauntingly familiar. She knew deep down that the house had claimed another soul.
Draft Review of Haunted Nights
The draft has good pacing and builds tension effectively. However, some scenes could be more detailed to enhance the eerie atmosphere. For example, describing the physical conditions of the house in greater detail would make it scarier. Additionally, the supernatural elements should be more concrete-describe what exactly the spectral figure looks like or if there are any other strange occurrences besides whispers and footsteps.
